TBO Increase for Jacobs R755 Series Engines

On February 19, 2009 Air Repair, Inc., T.C. holder for the Jacobs R755 series engines, received FAA approval for Service Bulletin 80.  This service bulletin allows for an increase in TBO on the R755 A and B engines from 1200 hours to 1400 hours.  The increase is the culmination of an improvement program to the engine that included steel exhaust seats, improved pistons, improved oil control rings, and intake valve stem seals amoung a host of other smaller improvements.

Service Bulletin 80 combines these improvements with a modern oil filter and air filter requirement and a standarized list of replacement parts to achieve 1400 hours between overhauls.  This is especially important for sightseeing operators as it gives another 200 revenue producing hours between overhauls.  All Air Repair, Inc. engines currently incorporate the overhaul requirements of this service bulletin to be 1400 hour eligible at no extra cost.
